Dementia Care Home

Interior Design
My idea was to create a dementia home designed to have the feel of a village that promotes independence for the dementia residents living there. I wanted to provide the residents with spaces and surroundings that improve their way of life, while living with dementia.
I tried to create a home that does not feel like your usual care home or hospital setting and designed it in a way that would help stimulate the mind of the residents.
My intention was to show that any basic care setting could be transformed into a more stimulating environment.
The building I chose for my final design was the Rufford Arms hotel in Liverpool. The reasoning behind my choice was because it has a similar layout to many care homes, demonstrating that a bespoke new build isn’t always necessary to create a dementia care type village within.
